Urge Medicaid to Stop Funding Non-Medical Circumcision

The US federal government has imposed major funding cuts to Medicaid. With resources now more limited than ever, it’s time for states to reassess how taxpayer dollars are being spent.

Routine infant circumcision is not medically necessary—yet many states still use Medicaid funds to cover this elective procedure. Every dollar spent on non-essential surgeries is a dollar taken away from critical services like maternal care, disability support, and life-saving treatments.

We’re calling on concerned citizens to write to their state Medicaid Directors and urge them to defund non-therapeutic circumcision. By doing so, states can:

✅ Align funding with medical necessity
✅ Protect vulnerable healthcare services
✅ Respect parental choice without financial coercion
